Here’s a scene in Philadelphia of nearly an entire Macy’s store singing the Hallelujah Chorus. The good news: Hundreds, perhaps thousands, sing to the top of their lungs, “Hallelujah! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth… And he shall reign forever and ever”, followed by sustained applause and cheers. The bad news: It was billed as merely a “Random Act of Culture”. In other words, they weren’t singing because they believe he is worthy (of course some were), but rather because it was another expression of how cultured we can be. However, one day the praises will ring, when every knee will bow down and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Phil. 2:9-11).
